Color Blocking Puppets for Young Children

The other day I made these cute woodland puppets with one of my classes. I found that for young children, it's a great idea to cut paper into shapes to define parts of the subject {like animals}. It's often hard for very young children to color exact shapes in the lines, so why not help by having them piece their art together with different shapes of paper?

To make these puppets all you need is some popsicle sticks, hard colored paper like cardstock, glue and extras like feathers and cotton! Remember, if you want your puppet to last past dinner time, hot glue might be required on the popsicle stick instead of tape ;)

The idea of color blocking works for almost any project you can think of... for greeting cards you send this holiday to decorations for the home.
